Paragliding in the Dolomites

Early autumn is the best time for paragliding in the Dolomites, as the air is less turbulent (or at least should be) than during the previous months of the flying season. On the first day we encountered the roughest conditions I have experienced since I started paragliding three years ago.

Cumulus Clouds above the Trnovski Gozd

Lijak is probably the most popular paragliding site in the Vipava Valley. Flying is usually possible when a gentle breeze is blowing from the valley. During the late afternoon a cloud street – a band of cumulus clouds – formed above the Trnovski gozd.

Hide and seek with the sun in puffy clouds (2)

When puffy clouds appear on the sky and grow into cumulus mediocris clouds, there is a good chance to reach the cloud base. This is not an occasion that happens every day. Take a look at the paragliding panorama of the sky above north-western Hungary on an amazing day.
