Landscape Photos of Sunset at Old Nitra River

The name of Old Nitra River is the exact translation of the Slovak name Stará Nitra and the Hungarian name Öreg-Nyitra. The name refers to the former lower section of the Nitra River between two small cities of Nové Zámky and Komárno in southwesern Slovakia. It refers to a section of river which changed after the mainstream of the river was diverted away near Nové Zámky westwards into the Váh River in the ’60s. This ‘old river’ has unique features and peaceful scenery with rich and very diverse wildlife. In recent years the river froze over and provided some picturesque views. The following landscape photos were taken near the farm of Lándor.
